Produce a short report in which you discuss the advantages and disadvantages of moving to an IT-based communication system. You should aim to evaluate the social impact and the effect on working practises

Advantages

You use less paper because they contact each other by emails

It’s a lot quicker to communicate with people all around the world e.g. different countries

You can  keep information on data bases for thousands of customers

You can keep records safe

Disadvantages

If they are communicating through   emails then  they are not talking  to each other personally.

Social impact is that they are not  communicating with people from different countries.

There is a risk of people hacking information from company’s files.

Mobile phone technology such as texting has a big impact on social life because people are not getting  together   or  meeting face to face  or talking over the phone because it is quicker and easier to text each other and to not get drawn into conversation.

More and more people are able to look at illegal imagery on the internet. Children may have access to this information if they do not have a parental block.

More people are using smart phones which has an impact on social life because they are texting, playing games or are messaging each other. There for group conversations are   getting wrecked by their friends because they are texting each other or they are playing games.

If you sit in the same position using your laptop or smart phone for long periods of time this can cause RSI (Repetitive strain Injury) and in extreme cases blood clot.

The law

For theft you should have cameras and also security passwords. In some locations you can pick up a Wi-Fi signal that does not need a password this is called piggy backing. People’s information should be kept private and not shared with other people this complies with the Data Protection Act.
